4 Pini, Roma = excellent arrival

Sometimes trips are crazy. Take, for example, this trip to Italy. Bookended by two other commitments, this trip is wedged into three days. That means I am spending more time on airplanes than in Italy. Oh well. At least the airplanes were good this time. I was upgraded from business class to first class on a 777. I must say that the lay flat pod is great even if the audio-visual system was designed and installed in the ’70s. I brought some pizza with me, watched “Robin Hood” on my mac, and ended up sleeping for almost 7 hours.

My friend Matteo met me in Rome at the airport and was gracious enough to set me up with an early morning shower to freshen up. Turns out that his wife’s parents own a hotel called 4 pini in Rome. Here is a picture of the shower I got to use.

As you can see, this was a nicely tiled shower. After 9 hours in a plane, it felt great.

Matteo was kind enough to spend a day with me in Rome and then drive me out to Pescara where I was to deliver a talk the next day.

Because I did not stay at 4 pini, I can’t emit a ranking, but based on the shower things look good.
